60 Seconds With… Huawei Director of Video Services ME Wang Bin

TV Connect: How do you predict the industry will be different in the next 12 months, and how do you see Huawei shaping that change?

Wang Bin: In the next 12 months, we will see more and more telco’s 4K UHD go to commercial launch, personal video and live broadcasting will be hotter than ever, more and more OTT players will come out. Huawei has published a white paper on how telcos can enter the video market and provides E2E video solutions and video cloud solutions.

TV Connect: You are speaking at TV Connect MENA, what are the market challenges you will be discussing in Dubai?

Wang Bin: The challenges that all players face – video-based transformation,limited availability of UHD-native content, network and bandwidth limitations,huge investment and slow ROI and quick monetization approach

TV Connect: Thinking forward for TV Connect – what are the big innovations you want to share at the show for Huawei

Wang Bin: Huawei would like to share the latest Huawei Video cloud strategy and solution providing VAAS services in MEA

TV Connect: What do you think you learnt about in 2016 with the direction the industry is what is the priority for the region?

Wang Bin: MEA should set up a video ecosystem union to speed up video growth, all of the players in value chain can be benefit from this union

TV Connect: Looking forward, what’s the focus for Huawei over the next 12 months?

Wang Bin: Huawei wants to cooperate with our customer telcos to make IPTV success. We also want to help all of the players into video transforming by providing VAAS solutions.

Wang Bin joined Huawei in 1996, and has extensive experience in R&D, marketing and sales in fixed networks, optical and broadband access networks and application and software services.

He’s had more than 15 years’ experience in video product line act as PDT/SPDT leader, chief solution architect, chief marketing expert. He led the first generation of Huawei video solutions in 2001.

In the past 6 years, his sole focus has been Huawei ME Video Solution and marketing in the Middle East.
