The winners at this month’s TV Connect MENA Awards have (finally) been announced.

Here’s a full breakdown of the gong holders in Dubai.  

Content exec of the year

The Content Executive of the Year award honours an individual behind a particularly successful or innovative channel, content-related project or service that aggregates and markets content for consumers. This year saw, Nick Grande (Managing Director, Channel Sculptor), snap up one of the standout gongs.

Nick has been awarded for the invaluable support he brings to up-and-coming IPTV and OTT networks and to MENA broadcasters.

Digital Innovator

The Digital Innovator award recognizes outstanding individual innovation in the fast evolving TV landscape.

This year’s winner Dr Raed Khusheim (CEO, Selevision) has been at the helm of Selevision since its inception 15 years ago. His latest contribution to the digital field saw the light under the name of Seevii, an all-in-one OTT Entertainment platform delivering premium Hollywood, Bollywood and Arabic content to the MENA region via EST, TVOD, SVOD, Live TV, Catch-up TV and a Full Advanced EPG,

Outstanding Channel

MTV Lebanon has claimed the coverted award for the outstanding MEA channel (terrestrial or multichannel) of 2014/5.

Since the return of “silent majority” returning to screens in Lebanon and around the world in 2009, MTV has undertaken a major revolution: new look, new programs but with the same professional outlook on the future.

Meanwhile, AL AAN TV was highly commended because of its innovative programming that continually engages, motivates and inspires its pan-Arab audience.

Broadcast Technologist of the year 

The Broadcast Technologist of the Year Award recognizes the individual through their high quality responsibility transmitting broadcast TV, programs & new media.

2015’s winner Saleh Lootah (CTO, DMI) joined DMI in 2012 as a CTO with a huge task of transforming a traditional media organization with tape based analogue operation and led them to become the region’s leading state broadcaster with state of the art 3G/HD file based operations which is at Par with the industry.

Mahesh Jaishankar (VP Datamena and Broadcast, du) was highly commended also, for integrating du’s Broadcast and Telecom assets, and in turn creating a world class Media platform for the industry in the Middle East.
