IP&TV News: TERN seems to be involved in a number of different areas. Is that fair to say?

Mariam Zamaray: Yes, we do business around five pillars: UHD production, talent management, digital platform, music publishing and content distribution.

What does your digtal platform and content distribution work entail?

in terms of our digital platform we offer a linear and nonlinear experience. You can watch our shows live or on demand on multiple devices. We engage with our audience and empowering viewers to shape the programs they watch. With interactive programming viewers have the power to play their own part in the programs they watch.

As for content distribution – we broadcast globally, on both linear and nonlinear, with a reach of 60 million homes in Europe, Eastern Europe and Asia supported by SES Astra, Tricolor and ITV Network.

What’s the encompassing vision behind it?

We are committed to pushing the boundaries of linear and nonlinear broadcasting. By shooting and broadcasting in UHD, viewers experience pixel-perfect image clarity – the sharpest, richest picture, supported by the very latest television technology.

We believe TV  should be interactive and social by nature. With viewers increasingly watching content on multiple devices, broadcasters and advertisers must continually find new ways to connect with viewers. In response we go beyond simple viewer interaction to incentivize and reward audience engagement.  By putting viewers at the center of the action we believe broadcasters and advertisers now have more opportunities to attract and retain audiences.

And tell us something about INSIGHT? A lot of people are making their UHD offerings at present. What sets it apart?   

Insight is a UHD factual entertainment channel. More viewers are watching linear and non-linear, and broadcasters must continually find new ways of engaging with viewers. That’s why we are pioneering the next generation of television to create an interactive, immersive, dynamic viewer experience, in UHD, driven by the very best technology.

Insight now reaches around 60 million homes in Europe and India, in partnership with SES, United4All and iTV Network.

You’ll be at this year’s TV Connect MENA (2-3 November 2015 Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai). What do you see as the biggest regional challenges at present?

We like to show our UHD content to the everyone and we think the MENA territory is an amazing place to do that.

We’re looking forwrard to geingt in touch with possible distribution partners, content buyers and OTT platforms to discuss possible partnerships with Insight.
