The MENA region’s premier networking event for the connected entertainment industry, TV Connect MENA, kicks off next week, and we’ll be running a few interview over the remaining couple of days to get everybody ready for it.
Here we speak to Dora Voicu (Head of Product, Alpha Networks) about the Alpha Networks and panel she’ll be chairing in Dubai…
IP&TV News: Hi Dora. So first of all can you tell us about what you’ll be doing at TV Connect MENA?
Dora Voicu: I’ll be the moderator for a panel discussion on ‘Transitioning into the new age of OTT distribution’. We’ll have contributions from beIN Media Group, Dubai Channels Network and Istikana.com.
The main topic is divided into four sub-topics, and I’ve prepared a couple of questions for OTT as part of current frameworks: so that includes commercial frameworks, legal and marketing frameworks, rights acquisition, and so on.
Alpha Networks is essentially positioned to help facilitate this kind of transition, is that right?
Yes, we are a software company, and we enable media companies and network operators to offer their subscribers pay-TV content on multiple devices. We have a backend software application, and network, cable and satellite operators in media companies use our platform for subscriber and content management.
And you’re already active in the MENA region?
We are already present in Mena, yes. beIN sports is our customer: there’s even greater potential in terms of number of subscribers…
What do you hope to come of this year’s event?
From my side there are two main priorities. One concerns partners – we’re looking for partners to help us build up an ecosystem. The second concerns customers. We believe our service is innovative because it can merge our subscriber management system and content management, in one convergent back end, which is accessible via a an open API, and then can be used on different device types, so we’ll be looking out for new customers and new market needs.
