YouTube unveils app updates

YouTube has updated its official YouTube apps, reflecting the fact that currently over half of YouTube views happen on phones and tablets.

The update – available now on Android, mobile web, and soon on iOS – introduces three new tabs: Home, Subscriptions and Account. Home provides users with a wealth of personalised content and playlists; Subscriptions pools requested uploads; and Account breaks down usage.

The update also allows viewers to watch full-screen vertical videos with just a single tap for the very first time.

Simultaneously, YouTube has unveiled  a new set of video creation tools for creators, allowing them to trim footage from their mobile device’s camera, tint the image with filters, add music, and upload – all inside the app.
