Sky Online TV box launched by Sky Italia

Sky Italia has announced the launch of the Sky Online TV box.

Like the NOW TV box in the UK, it’s a small device which turns a TV set into a smart TV.  Its aim is to reach new customers, appealing to those who want access to great entertainment but either don’t want a contract or can’t have a satellite dish.

The launch of the Sky Online TV box is the latest development in Sky’s partnership with advanced TV experts Roku. This partnership led to the launch of the NOW TV box in the UK and a similar piece of kit for the German equivalent, also called Sky Online, launched at the end of last year.

“Pay-TV in Italy still has wide growth margins and with Sky Online TV Box we think we’ll be able to reach out an even broader Italian audience and bring them a selection of Sky’s quality content,” comments Andrea Zappia, CEO of Sky Italia, “by addressing new and different audience targets from the families who choose to subscribe to Sky to enjoy the most engaging and richest viewing experience in Italy.”
