iPlayer registers record-breaking January

BBC catch-up service iPlayer has made a strong start to 2015, clocking in a record-breaking 343 million requests over the course of January, including 264m TV requests.

January also saw mobile and tablet iPlayer viewing hit an all-time high, soaring to 48%.

Consistent with previous months, so far over 2015 BBC iPlayer is used for TV at roughly the same time of day as linear TV viewing, although there is proportionally more daytime and late-peak use. For radio, BBC iPlayer is used far more in daytime than traditional radio listening, which peaks at breakfast-time.

Marina Kalkanis, Head of Core Services, Programmes On Demand, BBC and Nick Coulter, Head of Digital, BBC Worldwide will be appearing at TV Connect (28th – 30th April 2015 ExCel, London)
