Do you or your company have what it takes to pick up an esteemed gong at this year’s TV Connect Awards (29th April 2015 The Gherkin, London)?

If so, you’re running out of time to prove it, since the applications window closes this Friday on the 13th February.

Judged by the likes of BT’s Mark Wilson-Dunn, du’s Imran Malik, and HBO Europe’s Dave Alpert (to name a few), this year the awards will take place at one of London’s truly iconic structures, the weird and wonderful Gherkin. Spectacular views, and an added helping of glamour, should help to make it the biggest and best ceremony yet.

Category 1: Best TV Experience Enhancement

Entrants must be able to demonstrate excellence in creating a service or solution that enhances the TV Experience, delivering added value and benefits to consumers. This could involve the evolution of UI for a TV, Multiscreen, Smart Device or Laptop.

Category 2: Best Multiscreen Service Launch

The Best Multiscreen Service Launch Award recognises achievements in the delivery of a static, in building multiscreen TV service which supports the delivery of video to several output terminals, including, but not limited to, TV, PC, tablet and mobile. This includes dual screen solutions.

Category 3: Best Multiscreen TV Solution

This award recognises achievements within the vendor community, and is open to any technology or solution vendor involved in the implementation of a static, in building multiscreen TV service which supports the delivery of video to several output terminals, including, but not limited to, TV, PC, tablet and mobile. This includes dual screen solutions.

Category 4: Best Network Technology for IPTV & OTT TV

Entrants must demonstrate a superior impact of network technology, taking into consideration how said network technology has impacted a service providers ability to deliver real benefits to end users, enabling them improve network efficiency, guarantee ROI, and reduce operating costs, while enhancing the customer experience and increasing revenue.

Category 5: Best Service Delivery Platform for IP TV and OTT TV

This award recognises Service Delivery Platforms that support IP-based video delivered via an unmanaged network.

Category 6: Best TV App

It will recognise excellence in an application design and delivery, which allows users easy access to content on a range, if not all, connected devices. The award will be presented to an application which truly provides users with a premium experience.

Category 7: Best TV Consumer Device

It will acknowledge the best consumer equipment utilizing IP in the video experience, such as (but not limited to) screens, tablets, and devices that can be paired with the screen or receiver, network devices, and home networking solutions.

Category 8: Best TV Everywhere Service

Entrants must demonstrate evidence of the creation of an innovative on-the-move TV experience. Judges are looking for a service that change the way the viewer engages with content through smart mobile devices, including smart phones and tablets.

Category 9: Best Cloud or CDN Service Delivery

The Best Cloud or CDN Service Delivery Award will recognise innovations specifically in the delivery of media. Entrants must demonstrate how their technology or service is improving the user experience for viewers and reducing costs for operators. This could be achieved through a Cloud-based service or a content delivery network solution.

Category 10: Best Live Online TV Service or Solution

The Best Live Online TV Service or Solution Award will recognise the achievements of an operator, CDN, data centre, networking provider, ISP, content provider or solution provider in creating a reliable live streaming service or solution for the TV, laptop, mobile or tablet device.

Category 11: Best Smart Home Service Innovation

The Award will recognise the creation of an innovative Smart Home service that pushes the boundaries of the existing Smart Home and makes a significant contribution towards the evolution of the Smart Home in an IoT era. The service must be primarily related to use in the home, therefore connected cars entries will not be considered.

Category 12: Best Component or Enabler

The Best Component or Enabler award is open to all, recognising achievements in the fields of silicon, component technology and IP that have created significant new prospects for increased revenue, cost management, quality improvement and enhanced customer satisfaction.
