Freeview launches new connected TV service

UK digital TV service Freeview has undergone a major rebrand in preparation for a new mass market connected TV offer.

The new connected service will be called Freeview Play, and is due to launch later this year: it combines catch-up TV (BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and 4oD – soon to be All 4), on demand and live television.

Viewers will be able to search for programmes by either using the scroll back function in the TV guide or the apps page.

“Our new brand identity is bold and contemporary and will stand out in what is a very crowded TV market,” explains Guy North, Freeview Managing Director. “Today marks the start of an exciting future for the Freeview brand.”
