Social TV platform Beamly is claiming its special EastEnder’s ‘room’  saw a milestone 1.1 million + unique users during the special ‘Who killed Lucy?’ live episode of the longrunning BBC soap.

In addition, Beamly’s ‘Who Killed Lucy?’ interactive voting poll clocked in an impressive 2,237,723 votes.

Across the board, the EastEnders’ 30th anniversary spectacular created a social media frenzy last week, with one million tweets sent during the live show.

While Twitter activity quickly rose and fell in the wake of the live broadcast, however, Beamly’s momentum has been more consistent. Even today its online poll has received an additional half a million votes.

“While Twitter was mobbed during the live show, fans quickly dropped off and few were actively engaged – they are now looking for deeper engagement which is not limited to the window of the show,” says Simon Miller, managing director, Beamly. “We feel that it’s the community that gets the social buzz going, and that this is why their EastEnders stories peaked at 30,000 shares, whilst Beamly’s top story achieved 60,000 shares, leading the buzz. Superfans coalesce around the shows they love and people who know them inside out.”

Anthony Rose, Co-Founder & President, Beamly, will be appearing at this year’s TV Connect (28 – 30 April 2015 ExCel, London). Click here for booking and more info.
