UK internet TV service YouView has signalled its commitment to developing new talent with the launch of an extended internship scheme for students.

Applications are now open for young technologists to join the UK’s fastest-growing on demand TV service in a series of 12-month and three-month paid placements, beginning in June 2015.

In addition, three-month summer placements will be available offering opportunities to work on cutting edge projects and develop key skills for both the UK TV and technology industries.

The scheme was inaugurated in 2014, and YouView says that it has resulted in some exciting work.

“We’re delighted with the groundbreaking projects our new recruits have helped deliver,” Piers Lomax, Head of Engineering at YouView, told IP&TV News. “In the past few months, we have successfully launched on demand players from Netflix and Quest, brought new BBC iPlayer and BBC Connected Red Button to the service and worked with our partners to bring new devices to market. Now we’re looking to welcome even more talented people to our technology teams to help deliver our ambitious plans for 2015.”
