Content security specialist Verimatrix has become a member of GlobalPlatform – the organisation which standardises the management of applications on secure chip technology.

Verimatrix will focus its attention on the work of the GlobalPlatform Premium Content Task Force. This group is working to determine the industry requirements that need to be addressed to protect premium information and entertainment content on connected devices. The first use case of the task force is protecting the download, decryption and rendering of video content in conjunction with a trusted execution environment (TEE).

“In the past, the TEE ecosystem has been quite fragmented,” explains Petr Peterka, CTO of Verimatrix. “GlobalPlatform is working to change that and bring the industry together. The benefits of such collaboration cannot be underestimated as future standardization and interoperability will be hugely beneficial for the industry. Verimatrix is excited to be a part of GlobalPlatform and to highlight the critical role of the TEE within a robust revenue security strategy.”
