The BBC’s international commercial arm BBC Worldwide has signed a new content deal with Brazilian broadcaster TV Cultura.

The package includes eight seasons of Doctor Who, the longest running sci-fi series in TV history, and the three seasons of Sherlock, two of the BBC’s most successful global franchises.

“After 50 years of production, Doctor Who connects with Brazilian audiences. This important market values BBC drama, from classic series such as Doctor Who to modern productions like Sherlock, which will be now also available on Free TV in Brazil as part of this new deal with TV Cultura,” comments Fred Medina, EVP and Managing Director, BBC Worldwide Latin America & US Hispanic.

Marina Kalkanis, Head of Core Services, Programmes On Demand, BBC and Nick Coulter, Head of Digital, BBC Worldwide will be appearing at TV Connect (28th – 30th April 2015 ExCel, London)
