Jonathan Green will join BBC Worldwide next month as the new director of BBC Store, the upcoming digital content retail service now scheduled to launch next year.

The former head of consumer online at BT and director of e-commerce at Virgin Media will take charge of the online service that will allow customers to buy and keep digital copies of new and archive BBC programmes.

The idea is that people will be able to use iPlayer to search for shows, buy them through links to BBC Store and watch them via the catch-up service.

“Jonathan brings with him invaluable experience won with some of the biggest players in digital which puts him in an ideal position to launch our ambitious new platform,” comments Marcus Arthur, managing director, BBC Worldwide, UK & ANZ.
