Vodafone Germany & Cisco develop 4K set-top box

Vodafone Germany is collaborating with Cisco on a 4K capable set-top box.

Currently being demonstrated at IFA 2014 in Berlin, the 4K, Ultra HD next-generation offering will be available to subscribers within the first half of 2015 and will be the basis for all TV receivers available from Vodafone in the future.

Yves Padrines, Vice President, Service Provider Video, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Russia, Cisco, comments: “The adoption of 4K has been a point of discussion in the industry for a number of years, and we are delighted to be working with Vodafone to move it from a theoretical discussion to reality whilst enabling their subscribers to benefit from even greater quality viewing. This deployment marks yet another first for Vodafone in Germany, who remain at the forefront of IPTV innovation.”
