Netflix has overtaken HBO in subscriber revenue – racking up an impressive $1.146B to HBO’s $1.141B.
The achievement even inspired Reed Hastings, Netflix CEO (and all round SVOD Big Kahuna) to take to Facebook for a touch of well-earned self-congratulation (with just a hint of self-deprecation to boot).
“Minor milestone,” he posted, “last quarter we passed HBO is subscriber revenue ($1.146B vs $1.141B). They still kick our ass in profits and Emmy’s, but we are making progress. HBO rocks, and we are honored to be in the same league. (yes, I loved Silicon Valley and yes it hit a little close to home.)”
