Deutsche Telekom reveals Cloud plans for TV services

In an exclusive interview with IP&TV News, Oliver Friedrich (Senior Expert New Media, Deutsche Telekom), has revealed aspects of Deutsche Telekom’s planned virtualisation for elements of the telco’s TV production chain.

“In a first step this will include elements of the OSS/BSS, the Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and parts of the middleware,” Friedrich explained. He elaborated:

“Opportunities have been identified – especially on the cost side and the flexibility of such an infrastructure when it comes to the deployment of new or the adaption of existing services. Additionally, the de-coupling from local STB performance gives us complete flexibility upon service generation and production.”
