BBC iPlayer to hit Xbox One before 2015

Following the roll-out of the new, multiscreen iPlayer back in March (designed with a view to providing an optimum experience across PC, tablet, mobile and TV devices), the BBC has revealed that it is currently working with YouView, Virgin Media and BT to bring the new BBC iPlayer to these additional platforms – albeit with no set dates available as yet for these.

Xbox fans, however, are in line for better news, with the announcement that the BBC is planning to launch the new iPlayer on Xbox One by the end of 2014.

“I am happy to announce that we’re aiming to launch new BBC iPlayer on Xbox One by the end of this year,” explained Marcus Parnwell, Executive Product Manager, BBC iPlayer, in a blog post.
