Supreme Court outlaws Aereo

Controversial TV streaming service Aereo has been outlawed by the US Supreme Court, which voted six to three against the earlier decision by the appeals court that the service did not breach copyright laws.

“21st Century Fox welcomes the US Supreme Court’s ruling,” reads a statement from 21st Century Fox (Fox, along with ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS sued Aereo for copyright infringement), “a decision that ultimately is a win for consumers that affirms important copyright protections and ensures that real innovation in over-the-top video will continue to support what is already a vibrant and growing television landscape.”
