Sky has further strengthened its movies service with a new multi-year licensing agreement with Paramount Pictures. This will bring Sky Movies customers exclusive access, during the first pay television window, to current hit titles such as Noah, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, as well as future releases such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers: Age of Extinction.
Sky Movies will be the first subscription service in the UK and Ireland to show new Paramount Pictures movies. Sky Movies customers will be able to enjoy exclusive access to new titles from Paramount around eight months after they are released in cinemas. Once on Sky Movies, the films will be available exclusively on the service for more than a year.
Alongside the new releases, Sky Movies customers will also have access to a wide selection of classic movies from Paramount Pictures’ extensive film library, including all the Star Trek movies, The Godfather trilogy, Forrest Gump , and Top Gun.
The movies will be available through Sky’s On Demand service as well as via 11 dedicated Sky Movies channels. All the movies will also be available on Sky’s award-winning mobile TV service, Sky Go, for customers who wish to watch them on multiple devices, in and out of the home.
In addition, the titles included in the agreement will be available via the Sky Movies monthly pass on NOW TV, the internet TV service powered by Sky which offers easy and flexible access to Sky Movies across a wide range of internet-connected devices. Customers who subscribe to Sky Movies via Virgin Media, UPC, TalkTalk and BT TV will also be able to enjoy the full range of subscription movies from Paramount Pictures.
“We’re delighted to be extending our long-standing partnership with Paramount,” says Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies and Acquisitions. “This deal will give Sky Movies customers exclusive access to all Paramount Pictures’ new films, including the recent new hits Noah and Anchorman 2, as well as the ability to enjoy a wide range of classic titles. This is just the latest example of us giving Sky Movies customers the biggest and best movies to watch, how and when they want.”
