This year the TV Connect Awards are being held at the spectacular BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, a suitably illustrious setting in which to celebrate the best innovations and achievements in connected entertainment.
The shortlists for all the different categories were announced just the other week, and in recent days IP&TV News has dug a little deeper into the shortlists for Best Multiscreen Service and Best TV Experience Enhancement.
Concluding our short series, today we look at a particularly competitive field, the Best Multiscreen TV Solution.
First up, Adobe Primetime, which brings TV to every IP-connected screen, and gives programmers and operators modular capabilities to stream, protect, analyse, and monetise video across desktops and devices. It also offers the capacity to profitably broadcast live, linear, and video-on-demand programming everywhere.
Adobe Primetime is commended for removing the complexity of TV Everywhere experiences, giving operators the ability to deliver additional value to their subscribers.
The ARRIS DreamGallery Software application differentiates user experiences from the competition, either on the STB or across multiple screens in the home, allowing operators to personalise subscribers’ viewing experiences, while supporting today’s most popular video-capable devices.
DreamGallery uses HTML5 and is cloud-based, so users can quickly and easily offer a consistent look and feel across platforms, all from a centralized, cloud-based server in their network. Using DreamGallery, they can introduce new merchandising and advertising opportunities that weren’t possible in the old EPG world, while dramatically reducing time-to-market for new services.
Elemental Cloud by Elemental Technologies is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) that securely manages high-volume live and on demand video solutions with the scalability, elasticity and flexibility of the cloud. The platform automatically provisions and dynamically scales virtual Elemental systems, and can seamlessly integrate those resources with on-site infrastructure to instantly expand video processing capacity. This flexibility enables media companies to rapidly enhance multiscreen video offerings, grow audiences, generate greater revenues, and decrease capital expenses.
Which brings us to Huawei Smart Video Solution by Huawei. The Smart Video Solution employs many innovative technologies to help carriers deliver the best viewer experience at minimum cost to continue improving viewer experience. Huawei uses the latest intelligent bit rate monitoring technology to provide smooth HD video. It also uses a smart video congregation engine, which congregates vast quantities of video contents and enables users to quickly find the video they like.
Meanwhile the Tvinci OTT 2.0 backend puts the end user and their preferences at the centre of video consumption, enabling a truly personal, cross device service. The platform is available for use across tablets, connected TVs, set-top-boxes, PCs/Macs and game consoles.
