TV Connect 2014: iPlayer chief reveals new features

At TV Connect, London

In a keynote address today at TV  Connect, iPlayer chief Dan Taylor gave a guided tour of  numerous new features for the redesigned iPlayer. The new design features a 7 day backwards and forwards EPG and an extended catch-up window of thirty days, while live restart functionality has been similarly expanded to cover both the current and previous aired programmes.

“In order to take it to the next level we’ve re-engineered iPlayer from the ground up,” explained Taylor, adding that the new iPlayer is “built in such a way as to be able to quickly release and develop new features across all screens,” with an experience “optimised for different screen sizes.”
