Turner promote new director for UK kids channels

Turner Broadcasting has announced the promotion of Sean Gorman to director of their UK kids channels. Gorman, who has been with Turner for 11 years , was previously the senior programming manager.

Gorman comments: “Turner’s kids’ channels go from strength to strength in the UK. I am delighted to be taking on a role which helps build and develop this great network. We have some of the best content in this sector and this is an exciting time for our business.”

He will oversee the development and growth of the children’s channels in the UK (where Turner currently operates Cartoon Network and Boomerang), with responsibilities covering the acquisition and commissioning of new local content as well as all on-air creative and promos.

“I’m particularly pleased about Sean’s appointment,” says Jaime Ondarza, the senior VP and general manager for the UK, France and Italy. It rewards his talent and the great job he has done in programming for Turner kids. It is great to rely on internal talent for strategic leadership positions. In 2013 our kids’ channels in the UK achieved their best audience performance ever. I’m confident that under Sean’s leadership we will reach even more ambitious targets.”
