News & ITV announce streaming deal

Following its recent acquisition by Japanese company Rakuten, the Spanish VoD streaming service has announced a deal with ITV, the latest stage in its UK expansion.

As a consequence of this deal, hundreds of hours of ITV programmes, such as Prime Suspect, Endeavour, The Royle Family and Cold Feet, will be added to’s UK service and made available to stream on-demand.

“As well as demand for the latest blockbuster movie titles, we do see a real hunger from our users for TV series that they can watch back-to-back on-demand,” says Wuaki founder and CEO Jacinto Roca. “ITV is a huge player in the UK and well known for quality drama and comedy programming. Having their catalogue is a great boost for our service.”

Rakuten acquired  Wuaki in the summer and introduced a version to the UK, which came out of beta last month.
