Amazon to launch STB by Xmas?

According to the Wall Street Journal, is said to be preparing video-streaming set-top box device in time for Christmas, and have approached a number of cable TV providers and app developers in the search for partners.

Reports of Amazon’s set-top plans go back to April, with Bloomberg reporting at the time that the device was due out by this autumn. The box is rumoured to resemble a Roku Inc player and would serve as a platform both for Amazon’s own US streaming service and as a platform for other sources of apps and content.
