VuTV offers access to UK viewing data

VuTV, a new OTT pay-TV streaming service is launching on UK platform Freeview HD this month, giving content providers a chance to access valuable real-time viewing data.

The service, delivered by broadband, will be streamed to viewers by Synapse TV’s content delivery network.

Among the first broadcasters to sign up are A+E Networks, Viacom International Media Networks and Turner Broadcasting, ensuring that channels including Comedy Central, MTV, CNN, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon will be available to internet-connected Freeview HD receivers.

Over 20 million UK homes have Freeview.

Synapse will also offer detailed viewing analytics, offering providers valuable data on changing viewing habits.

Simplestream director Dan Finch said: “As the public get wiser to connecting up their TVs, and the TVs get smarter, it’s a great opportunity for channel providers to tap into the Freeview market and gain access to real time viewing data of their channels that can be used to help shape their own marketing strategy.”

VuTV will air on Freeview channel 238 starting this month.
