LOVEFiLM extends smart TV capabilities

Amazon-owned UK video streaming service LOVEFiLM is extending its connected TV capabilities, by upgrading its functionality for Samsung smart TVs and Blu-ray players.

A new LOVEFiLM Instant streaming app is designed to bring more Amazon-like features to users, including star ratings, ‘more like this’ titles and a watchlist. The app also offers enhanced recommendations based on recent TV show and film consumption.

LOVEFiLM is also making personalised smart lists, including ‘your TV shows’ and ‘recently watched’, available to its members, alongside a stop-and-resume function, allowing viewers to revisit partially watched content, across supported devices.

With UK over-the-top (OTT) market booming, and competition with Netflix fierce, this is the latest stage in LOVEFiLM’s continued roll-out of the app to all supported platforms.

The new LOVEFiLM Instant app for Samsung smart TVs and Blu-ray players is available immediately from the Samsung SmartHub.

The new app will affect models manufactured in 2012 and 2013.
