Latest Emmy for House of Cards: Another non-linear milestone for Netflix

Flagship Netflix political thriller House of Cards, the American drama series developed and produced by Beau Willimon and based on the BBC mini-series, continues to break new ground for non-linear programming.

Although it wasn’t the only Netflix production credited at this year’s Emmy Awards (the excellent Arrested Development and Hemlock Grove also received nominations – three for the former and two for the latter), it was certainly the most successful, collecting two Primetime Creative Arts Emmys last week, and now seeing director David Fincher bestowed with the coveted Best Director of a Drama Series Emmy.

So, a timely moment to again applaud Netflix’ significant and successful diversification into content production (not to mention one of IP&TV News’ favourite shows).
