Entone and TiVo combine for IPTV

Connected TV specialist Entone has teamed up with DVR manufacturer TiVo to produce an integrated solution for IPTV operators that combines Entone’s hybrid TV devices with TiVo’s user experience.

The partnership allows integration with TiVo’s cloud services, including universal search and recommendations, networked DVR service, alongside central elements of the TiVo user experience – on Entone IPTV platforms.

TiVo’s partnership with Entone is part of the company’s effort to offer hardware flexibility for operators using its boxes, to expand in the IPTV sector.

For Entone, the TiVo partnership offers an opportunity to bring advanced television services to its IPTV customers.

Entone CEO Steve McKay said: “TiVo not only pioneered the DVR but is also leading the way with Cloud TV services such as networked DVR and web media applications. This partnership continues Entone’s focus on making the best possible entertainment experience available to our operator customers and their subscribers.”

Entone hardware provides a platform for supporting TiVo’s experience, at the same time as providing tuner configurations for hybrid TV and a variety of at-home video distribution technologies and options.

TiVo’s vice president of technology strategy Joseph Weber said: “With extensive global IPTV deployments, Entone is the perfect partner for TiVo to build on our momentum with service providers worldwide.”
