Ukraine’s VOLIA picks Envivio transcoders for Internet TV service

Ukrainian cable operator VOLIA has selected video transcoders from US firm Envivio to power its new over-the-top (OTT) TV service, enabling the delivery of subscription video services outside of its current footprint.

VOLIA has deployed Envivio Muse transcoders to power the ‘Volia Smart HD’ video service, which offers more than 130 channels and which is available to over 1.5mn households outside its cable footprint of around 30 cities throughout Ukraine.

Designed for 24×7 TV services delivered over cable, satellite, managed or unmanaged IP networks, Muse compresses TV signals to any format or resolution – including MPEG-2, H.264 and HEVC (H.265). It also supports advanced functionalities such as ad insertion, audio level adjustment, video quality measurement and image processing.
