EBU appoints new head of innovation

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has appointed ex-ITV exec Simon Fell as its new director of technology and innovation, starting August 15th.

Fell has previously been director of future technologies and controller of emerging technologies at UK broadcaster ITV, and is currently chairman of the technical council at the UK’s Digital Television Group.

His new duties will include setting standards and defining and sharing best practices in media production and delivery, as well as driving business development for the EBU, whose membership includes most of Europe’s public service broadcasters across 56 countries.
