Arris lays off 500 following Moto swoop

US firm Arris has reduced its headcount by around 500 staff (7% of its total workforce) as part of a drive to cut operating costs, according to reports..

Light Reading states that the cuts will affect the company’s global workforce at around 25 facilities, including (but not limited to) staff at the Motorola Home business it recently acquired from Google for US$ 2.2bn.

In a recent interview with IP&TV News, Arris CTO Charles Cheevers said that the newly-combined company will continue to focus on enhancing Motorola Home’s Medios and DreamGallery products – more details here.
