ZTE takes runner-up slot in global IPTV rankings

Chinese vendor ZTE has risen to number two position in a number of different sub-sectors of the worldwide market IPTV market, including video-on-demand, middleware and set-top boxes, according to US firm Multimedia Research Group.

ZTE is currently believed to have an 11% share of worldwide market for VOD equipment, an 18% share of the middleware market, and an 18% share of the set-top box market (thanks largely to its strong standing in Asian countries).

By the end of June 2013, ZTE will have deployed 48 IPTV commercial networks for operators worldwide, including China Telecom, Beltelecom, Bulgarian Mtel and Telkom.
