Liberty Global has appointed Dana Strong as chief operating officer of UK cableco Virgin Media, taking over from Andrew Barron in July.

Ms. Strong is currently managing director of UPC Ireland, a subsidiary of Liberty Global, and will report to Virgin Media’s new CEO Tom Mockeridge.

Liberty Global successfully offered US$ 23bn for Virgin Media last February, with the deal expected to complete this month.

Virgin Media is the UK’s largest cable operator with nearly 5mn customers across broadband, TV and telephony.
