Slovak Telecom picks Verimatrix to protect multiscreen OTT service

Slovak Telecom has selected content protection from US firm Verimatrix to protect its new over-the-top (OTT) multiscreen TV service ‘Magio GO’, which delivers 22 linear channels via the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol.

The Slovakian telco chose the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for Internet TV solution to protect Magio TV, which is available on a variety of screens (TV, web, mobile) and had accumulated 15,000 subscribers by the end of March 2013.

Slovak Telecom also operates an IPTV service called ‘Magio TV’, which it launched in 2006 but which had not exceeded 200,000 subscribers by the end of 2012, according to the telco’s own figures.
