US web services firm Yahoo has revealed plans to expand its line-up of original programming with new comedy and lifestyle shows, and plans to make all episodes available at once for ‘binge viewing’.
The new comedy shows include ‘Tiny Commando’, written and produced by actor Ed Helms, ‘We Need Help’ by Cheryl Hines and Rachael Harris, and ‘Losing Your Virginity with John Stamos’, in which the star interviews celebrities about their first sexual experiences.
New lifestyle shows planned include ‘Fashion Recipe’ with celebrity stylist Brett Alan Nelson, ‘Cinema & Spice’ which explores food and film, and a grilling show called ‘Grill Girls’.
The new shows will start airing this autumn, and will be unveiled tonight (May 1st) at Yahoo’s Digital Content NewFront event in New York, which will feature many of the new shows’ stars.
Yahoo COO Henrique de Castro said: “What we’re showing tonight signals where Yahoo! is headed: beautiful product experiences, exciting new content, big partnerships with the largest media brands, and extraordinary new ad experiences.”
