Twitter investing ‘heavily’ in TV

Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, has said that his company is investing significant amounts of money in making Twitter into the “social soundtrack” for TV.

Speaking at the D: All Things Digital taking place in California this week, Costolo is quoted by Bloomberg as saying: “We’ve decided to invest heavily in that. There’s a bunch of ways we can be complementary to broadcasters.”

Costolo’s comments come less than a week after the microblogging service revealed its new TV ad targeting for Promoted Tweets, designed to make it easier for advertisers to extend and enhance their TV ad campaigns.
