Samsung buys TV app maker MOVL

Korea’s Samsung Electronics has purchased US firm MOVL, a developer of TV apps and app platforms which has previously won its Connected TV developer contest.

MOVL has built a proprietary platform called MOVL Connect, which allows for quick deployment of multi-user, multi-device and multi-platform applications.

News portal TechCrunch carries an official statement from MOVL which confirms the buyout and adds that MOVL’s team of ten staff will join the TV manufacturer’s offices in San Jose, California.
