Netflix strikes exclusive deal with Disney/ABC

Netflix has become the exclusive US subscription television service for two of Disney/ABC Television Group’s most popular shows, thanks to a new multi-year licensing agreement signed between the two.

Under the deal, Netflix will be the exclusive home of ‘Jake and the Never Land Pirates’ and ‘Tron: Uprising’, and will also gain a handful of other shows later this month, including ‘Handy Manny’, ’Special Agent Oso’ and ‘JoJo’s Circus’.

Netflix added 2mn streaming customers in the US in the first quarter of this year to reach a total of 29mn, and revealed that it is planning to launch in another (unspecified) European market in the second half of this year.
