The TV business is hugely excited about the potential of companion apps. Is this excitement justified?

Absolutely. I believe companion apps are changing the way viewers and fans of shows are able to engage and interact with their favourite shows.

What are some of the most interesting implementations that you have seen to date?

The Game of Thrones interactive features created by NY has been a really exciting experiment.

Not only does it feature really cool information for the fans of the show, but it helps the average viewer to follow and understand a complex story line in a new and compelling way.

What are the biggest challenges that they create for a service provider or broadcaster?

Innovation and relevance are key; so is a friendly user experience. Being a premium brand, HBO has had to decipher what are the key functions and features that are appropriate for its companion app.

What plans does HBO Latin America have here?

HBO Latin America had been hard at work developing the GO app for our territories.

Now that it has been successfully launched, our priority is to onboard more and more affiliates, as well as launch on more platforms, making it a truly anywhere, anytime experience.
