DT passes major TV milestones

Deutsche Telekom passed two major TV milestones in the first quarter of this year, reaching 2mn television subscribers in Germany and 3mn in Europe.

The telco added 70k customers for its German TV services (delivered via IPTV and satellite) in the first quarter of this year, with the majority of these receiving its IPTV service ‘T-Home Entertain’, launched back in 2006.

DT added a similar number of TV subscribers elsewhere in Europe, delivering IPTV, cable and satellite services in a number of countries including Hungary, Croatia, Romania and Slovakia.

Total revenues across all operations for the first quarter of this year reached €13.8bn, down 4.5% from one year earlier, while net profits rose 3.5% to reach €564mn.
