Amazon customers pick five original TV series

The winners of Amazon’s innovative crowd-driven selection process for the original TV series it will put through full production have been announced, with airing due to start later this year.

After hosting 14 original TV pilots exclusively on Amazon’s LoveFilm’ service in the UK and ‘Prime Instant Video’ in the US, the winners are comedy series ‘Alpha House’ and ‘Betas’, and children’s shows ‘Annebots’, ‘Creative Galaxy’ and ‘Tumbleleaf’.

Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios, said: “We are thrilled at the enthusiastic customer response to our first original pilots. We built Amazon Studios so that customers could help decide which stories would make the very best movies and TV shows.

“It’s exciting to see the process in motion, doing exactly what we set out to do. The success of this first set of pilots has given us the push to try this approach with even more shows – this is just the beginning.”
