Following last week’s surprise resignation by Lord Sugar, UK connected TV venture YouView has appointed Sir Charles Dunstone as its interim Chairman.

As Chairman of TalkTalk Group, Sir Charles has been involved with YouView since TalkTalk became a shareholder in 2009. YouView will now begin a search for a permanent non-executive chairman.

His predecessor Lord Sugar, founder of electronics firm Amstrad and appointed by the YouView board last year to bring the oft-delayed platform to market, quit last Friday (March 1st), saying his “job is complete”.

However, numerous media outlets carried detailed reports of an altercation with Richard Desmond, owner of broadcaster Channel 5 and another key figure in the YouView project.
