Following the recent launch of its TV Everywhere service ‘HBO GO’, HBO Latin America has revealed more details about the work that went into the project since its inception in late 2010.
The HBO GO platform for Latin America shares surface similarities with the US version of the same name but a different development path, with US firm Positive Flux called upon to provide feasibility analysis, technical evaluation, and operational coordination, as well as the platform’s development, deployment and testing.
“This has been a fantastic opportunity to help one of Latin America’s premier entertainment brands extend its groundbreaking TV Everywhere service,” said Larry Thaler, president of Positive Flux. “This project was far more complicated than simply replicating the US version of HBO GO.
“Instead, working as part of the team at HBO Latin America, we started with the superior user experience of HBO GO, then enhanced the underlying platform to manage the different requirements of the multi-national distribution model.”
HBO GO is being distributed in Latin America in conjunction with regional pay-TV operators such as SKY Brasil and DIRECTV Colombia, and HBO Latin America ultimately plans to bring it to all 23 countries in the region where it has a presence (including the Caribbean).
