French telco France Telecom/Orange had reached 5.9mn subscribers for its TV services across all markets by the end of 2012, up 15% from one year earlier, with the majority of these customers located in France and Poland, but with some based in Slovakia and Spain.

In France, the telco counted 5.067mn subscribers for its IPTV and satellite TV services by the end of December, up 15.8% year-on-year, while its fixed broadband base rose 3% to reach 9.893mn, including 176,000 optical fibre customers.

In Poland, Orange had reached 706,000 customers for its IPTV and satellite TV services by the end of 2012, up 11% on an annual basis, while its broadband base remained stable, with 2.345mn by the end of December.

Earlier this month local reports suggested that France Telecom is planning to officially change its name to Orange later this year, and will seek shareholder approval at its annual general meeting in May.
