Mexico’s Totalplay picks Envivio encoders

Mexican telco Totalplay has deployed video encoders from US firm Envivio to power its live and on-demand television services, as it seeks to build up its channel line-up and improve video quality.

The telco, a subsidiary of media services provider Grupo Salinas, currently delivers more than 200 SD and 50 HD channels via IPTV and cable, and has chosen Envivio’s 4Caster Gen III platform to expand its lineup and reduce space requirements.

Grupo Salinas appears to harbour big ambitions for the Latin America’s TV market: Robert Delamar, CEO of its subsidiary Totalmovie, revealed exclusively to IP&TV News last week that his company will be launching a TV Everywhere service in Brazil and Mexico within the next 90 days.
