UK/US firm ThinkAnalytics now has over 40 TV operators worldwide using its real-time personalised content and recommendations technology, involving 100mn licensed subscribers, and reports that both its revenues and profits doubled in 2012.
Recent customer wins include US cableco Cox Communications, Swiss telco Swisscom, Germany’s UnityMedia, Portuguese cable operator Zon, and Nordic operator Canal Digital.
These join existing large-scale pay-TV providers in North America and Europe such as Liberty Global, Cox Communications, BSkyB and Virgin Media.
“2012 marked the coming of age for the media recommendations engine and content discovery market with most operators commencing field trials or starting full deployment rollouts,” said Peter Docherty, founder and CTO at ThinkAnalytics.
