UK free-to-air satellite platform Freesat has appointed Paul Gilshan as its new Director of Marketing and Communications, to take over the reins from Will Abbott and lead promotion of the second-generation service, called <free time>.
Gilshan is currently Director of Commercial Marketings and Research at UK broadcaster ITV, and will begin his tenure in spring of this year. Previous roles have included Head of Marketing for The Times, where he delivered new subscription packages and BskyB where he relaunched Sky Movies.
As Will Abbot left Freesat in December 2012 to become UK Marketing Director for insurance company Hiscox, Freesat’s marketing operations will be led until Gilshan arrives by Eleanor McBrien, Brand and Marketing Consultant for Freesat.
Freesat unveiled its updated platform <free time> towards the end of last year, offering a wealth of new features including catch-up TV, a backwards TV guide, a curated recommendations section and improved recordings – more details here.
