Avengers Assemble for LoveFilm

Pan-European online video service LoveFilm has signed a content deal with Disney UK and Ireland to bring animated TV series of some of the nation’s favourite Marvel superheroes to the LoveFilm Instant streaming service in the UK.

The deal includes original series featuring many superheroes who are still big-screen blockbuster icons – including the animated series of Iron Man (1995), The Incredible Hulk (1996), Fantastic Four (1995), X-Men and Silver Surfer.

“We already have a fantastic range of animated TV content on offer for our customers and it is great to see it expand with Marvel animation as a result of this new deal with Disney,” said Jim Buckle, MD at LoveFilm.

“It is an exciting development as many of our members will have grown up watching Marvel classics and can now catch up whenever they choose. The collection will also appeal to new fans.”

The Marvel deal is the third content agreement in two weeks to be announced by LoveFilm (the others being with NBCUniversal and Channel 4).

LoveFilm is owned by Amazon and is available in a number of major European markets including the UK, Germany and Scandinavia.
