AT&T adds Disney and Hispanic programming

US telco AT&T has signed a comprehensive new deal to bring content from The Walt Disney Company to customers of its IPTV service ‘U-verse TV’, and has separately signed deals to add the Mexican movie channels Cine Estelar and Cine Nostalgia to its Spanish-language offerings.

The agreement with Disney will bring a large lineup of top sports, news and entertainment to U-verse TV, and will introduce several new services for a broad range of connected devices, including the full suite of authenticated WATCH products, ESPN 3D, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Buzzer Beater, Disney Junior and the upcoming ABC News/Univision Joint Venture.

Meanwhile, the channels Cine Estelar and Cine Nostalgia will be added to the IPTV service’s ‘U-Latino’ and ‘Paquete Español’ packages later this month, offering a wide selection of Mexican films and exclusive original productions.

AT&T had reached 4.3mn active subscribers to its managed IPTV service ‘U-verse TV’ by the end of the third quarter of 2012, having added 198,000 customers in the three-month period.
